About the Brand

One of the original innovators of the push-button chronograph, Edourad Heuer, began making pocket watches in 1860. His stopwatches were popular in sports timing, industrial production, and artillery calculation by the turn of the century. Eventually, the brand’s clocks were integrated into the dashboards of cars, planes, and boats.

The 20th century saw Heuers make the jump to wristwatch popularity thanks to a handful of iconic references. The Heuer Autavia, first released in 1933, was re-released as the Autavia Chronograph in 1962 and remains popular to this day. The Heuer Solunar, in 1949, featured a moonphase and could track the tides. The Carrera in 1963 was a racing chronograph through and through. After Steve McQueen wore the Heuer Monaco in Le Mans in 1969, the writing was on the wall: Heuer was the maker of racing watches. In 1985 the TAG Group purchased a majority stake in the company and renamed it TAG Heuer. Today, the brand is still known for its racing-inspired chronographs, colorful vintage timepieces, and its confident, cool, and entirely unique approach to timekeeping.
